The Lakers are playing the Oklahoma Thunder tonight.  Should be fine, should kick their butts.  The Thunder have notable youngsters Kevin Durant and Jeff Green, but that’s about it.  I wanna see some whuppin’.

The Game – Lakers vs. Thunder

Kobe had a helluva a 1st quarter, leading the Lakers to a 19 point lead after 1.  He hit some incredible shots, such as one from behind the bucket, way over the backboard, and swishalicious.  To end the quarter, he had a left-handed touch shot on a loose ball and hit it off the glass at the buzzer.  He’s so damn good it hurts.  Durant got in foul trouble in the 2nd quarter, picking up his third foul and forced to the bench.  He wasn’t having a good game anyway, as Ron Artest was all over him like glue.  He was a beast defensively, and I like that.  That’s what he’s here for, to shut down small forwards who think they’re hot stuff.  Ron Ron is stronger and can make you look like a little kid.  Lakers blew ‘em out by 24 in the first half.  Second half was a bit of a snoozer, the thing was over.  There were some nice highlights from Kobe and Shannon Brown, the jumping freak.  Man, with Gasol in there, victories just seem so much easier.  Moves everyone to their right spots, puts Lamar on the bench where he needs to be to solidify it.  I’m likin’ this team now, should be a while before they lose again.

The Lakers play the NY Knicks tonight in yet another home game.  The Knicks sure are a mess.  They’re a skeleton of a team, obviously gearing up for the summer’s free agent sweepstakes.  They want LeBron so bad, and you know what?  I don’t think they’re gonna get him.  I think LeBron’s staying right where he is, in his hometown, and he’s gonna stay there his whole career.  Would be fitting for a player of his caliber.  The Knicks have nothing going for them.  It’s a long road to haul before they’re championship contenders.  What young talent do they have?  Gallinari?  He’s a European 3-point shooting big, should fit well in D’Antoni’s system, but that’s about it.  They’re getting Eddy Curry back, who is a good player, but I’m not worried about him.  Nate Robinson is still 5’9” and he just shot on the opponent’s basket and has the coach mad at him.  The Lakers should whup the holy hell out of the Knicks tonight.

Ron Artest was half-nekkid on Jimmy Kimmel last night.  Came out in nothing but his boxers.  Kind of disturbing, actually.  The guy’s covered with muscles.  He’s like 6’8”, 260 pounds, all muscle.  They say he has one of the biggest derriers in the game.  That he’s an immovable object, that he shuts people down, like all the way down (witness: Kevin Durant).  He also acts a damn silly fool, but we knew that about him already.  I like having him on our team, tho.  It’s good to have a defensive closer, especially since we lost Trevor Ariza.

The Game – Lakers vs. Knicks

It was a ho-hum 1st half, surprisingly close for most of it.  Gallinari looked good early, the teams battled it out, Kobe and Bynum looked good and the Lakers pulled out to a 10 pt lead at the half.  2nd half was mostly a snoozer.  Lakers got out to a 20+ pt lead and cruised on to victory.  The Knicks are all perimeter and tonight, the shots weren’t falling.  They just don’t have any inside presence.  Lakers do though, and in the long run, that dominance ruled out.  They gave up the big lead and the starters had to come back in the game, but in the end, they won.  That’s all that counts.
