The Simpsons arcade game is new to the iPhone / iPod Touch.  The old arcade game had you going around Springfield as your favorite Simpsons character and beatin’ the hell out of some baddies.  Used to love that game.  It was like a Simpsons version of the X-men arcade game, another one of my favorites.  I remember way back when (in the ’90s) when I used to go to the local arcade, Aladdin’s Castle, and furiously pound on this game.  Never mind the dank stanky carpet (which was pee-inducing), I needed my Simpsons!  Fed that thing more quarters than I care to remember.  I liked being Bart and pounding dudes with my skateboard.

Now the Simpsons is out on the iPhone / iPod Touch. You can only play as Homer, leading him in search of a precious donut with a USB stick inside of it filled with one of Mr. Burns’ evil plans.   No choice of character is a bit of a downer, but I still want it.  Still want to put a beatdown on Springfield.  Hope it puts a stupid grin on my face.  So it’s not a direct port of the Konami arcade game, but close enough.  And the controls look like virtual control pad, not my favorite controls, sure to be kind of clunky.  But coming from EA Mobile, I expect some quality.  Looking forward to it!

Also new to the iPhone/iPod Touch is a game called 100 Nazi Scalps.  If you’ve seen Inglourious Basterds, then you’ll notice this game has borrowed a little something something from that film (“I want my scalps!” says Brad Pitt).  In the game, you are placed in Nazi-occupied France and are charged with killing as many Nazis as you can.  You get to play one of the Basterds!  Let’s hope we can slay Nazis with as must gusto as them.
