There’s a lot of buzz being tossed around about the forthcoming Apple tablet (it may be announced in late January, who knows after that). Some say it’s a tablet version of a MacBook. Some say it’ll be a 10” version of an iPod Touch. Some say it will be called the iSlate. Who knows, it’s all speculation at this point. Steve Jobs is said to have been pleasantly surprised by the interface. I suppose he knows what he’s talking about. I suppose we must bow down to Lord Jobs and hang on his every word.
Will I need such a device? I don’t think so. I’m getting a laptop, which will thoroughly trounce this tablet in computing power. If it turns out to be a larger version of the iPod Touch, well I still won’t need it as I have the iPod Touch, and part of its appeal is its small size. It’s all rumors though and it could wind up blowing up the tablet PC world the way the iPhone blew up the cell phone world. It may exceed all of our expectations. It’s going to be compatible with all the apps in the App Store, which is a hell of a market base.
Is it even possible this thing will bomb? Probably not, given Apple’s recent history. Though if the price is prohibitively high, like say over $1000, I don’t see too many people buying it. I was thinking something priced similarly to netbooks, like under $500 (though they say that the display alone costs $500 from the manufacturer). If we’re hovering around the $1000 mark, I’m sorry but I’m getting a PC laptop! Tablets haven’t really caught on. Apple’s hoping that they will with this device.
Apple shares have reached record highs following holiday sales and speculation on the tablet device.

I personally rather like the tablet. It’s even a better news that APPLE is coming out with one. I have to disagree with you and get one when it’s out.
Never have caught on and never will…
