Back on Saturday the 26th, the Lakers had a thrilling victory in double overtime over the Sacramento Queens, I mean Kings.

There were a couple times there when I thought the Lakers were “dead in the water”.  Kobe had some kind of problem with his right elbow, in addition to the fracture in his right index finger.  He couldn’t even shoot with his right hand nearing the end of regulation.  They were down by 7 nearing the end of the first overtime and somehow got it tied again.  Pau Gasol had a nice tip-in with 0.4 sec left at the end of the 1st OT.  In the 2nd OT, Kobe’s elbow miraculously healed and he started hitting 3’s and he put away the game.  Super rookie Tyreke Evans was held in check down the stretch by a combination of Kobe and Shannon Brown.

Tonight the Lakers go into Phoenix to play the Suns again.  After that, they come back home to play the Warriors on Tuesday.  Oh yeah, and Ron Artest is out for the game.  Dumbass fell down the stairs in his own house.  Man, that’s some dumb stuff right there.  Cost the team, we can use that guy, the big lug.

The Game – Lakers at Suns

Game was close through the 1st quarter.  In the 2nd, Phoenix went on a run and opened up a 12 point lead.  Then Kobe started going off and brought the Lakers back.  Basketball’s such a game of runs.  They battled it out, Suns took a 6 pt lead into halftime.  Lakers didn’t play too good, it could have been worse.

2nd half, Lakers played horrible.  Played like ass.  Just couldn’t get any stops, couldn’t slow them Suns down.  A disappointing loss.  These road games seem to be getting to the Lakers.  They need the holidays to be over for them to start playing better.  No rest for the weary though, they play again tomorrow night.

Here we go again.  2nd of a back to back against the lowly Warriors, another division opponent.  They played last night too with a tough win over the hated Celtics, doing us a favor and keeping us with the best record in the league.  We need a win coming off of last night’s horrible loss at the hands of Steve Nash and the Suns.  Ron-Ron is missing his third game after falling down the stairs, and he may be missed tonight.  We need him to get ‘em angry out there!  We need toughness!  Come on Lakers!  Let’s see some fire!

The Game – Lakers vs. Warriors

The Lakers started out the game okay but played mediocre throughout the first quarter, falling behind by double digits at one point but closing out the quarter okay.  No defense.  We ain’t got no legs out there!  Maybe this holiday schedule and all the travel is getting to them.  The 2nd quarter saw more of the same with the Lakers hovering around a double digit deficit.  Lakers went into the half down 60-53.

The Lakers played much better at the start of the 3rd quarter, Champion’s time.  They erased the deficit and took the lead.  They went on a 23-9 run at one point, but then the game got close.  The Lakers took an 88-86 lead into the 4th in a shootout.  Kobe and Monte Ellis battled it out down the stretch, Lakers pulled it out 124-118.  Kobe threw in a big 44 pts (a season high), the 103rd 40 pt game of his illustrious career.  Pau Gasol had a quiet 27 and 12.  It was a good win, although there was no defense to be seen out there.
