Bill Nguyen, Marketing Manager at IOGEAR (pictured center), and the rest of the IOGEAR team spent some time with Tech Bucket Blog at Digital Experience yesterday evening. IOGEAR is working on some pretty exciting products with applications in the wireless home theater space.

Our interests are strictly self serving of course. A few of us have had people (themselves) trip over wires in their setups, but worse yet the dreaded cable turned chew toy. Perhaps the biggest complaint our Editors have (with the exception of one frugal-audiophile we have on staff) is just plain unsightly cable clutter strewn about the house.

Some of the earlier iterations of wireless home-theater haven’t been great. We’ve played around with wireless speakers using RF, bluetooth and wireless USB, but the solutions were poor to say the least. Wireless video solutions have had playback issues and price point was just a little bit uncomfortable on a limited budget.

IOGEAR looks to make us happy with their solution. IOGEAR’s AVIOR – Wireless HD Kit does the job pretty well in our limited hands-on demonstration at Digital Experience. Picture quality, albeit not a reference video, was pretty good and comparable to a wired solution. The streaming video from a blu-ray player was about 3 feet away from the display, but the folks at IOGEAR told us that video streaming can be done to a maximum of 100ft. A total of 4 inputs (2 HDMI, 1 composite, and 1 VGA) and 3 outputs (1 HDMI, 1 composite, 1 component) offer plenty of connectivity options for the average home user.

We’ll be keeping an eye on AVIOR, but it should be available soon with an MSRP of around $899 USD. IOGEAR would like for me to mention that price is subject to change up or down

More IOGEAR from Digital Experience and CES during and after opening day.
