IOGEAR recently announced their Solar Bluetooth Hands-Free Kit at CES. IOGEAR showed it at Digital Experience yesterday evening and we walked away impressed. The form-factor is about the size of wide bodied, closed flip phone, but much lighter. Think RAZR clam shell and you’ve got it. At first, you may think it’s just a simple little car mount speaker phone, until you turn it over.

The solar panel provides a full charge in about 4 hours and basically never needs to be charged or removed from the car…ever! MSRP is $69.95 and IOGEAR is shipping to Target stores nation wide. (You might want to support us, by looking for it on Amazon.com over to your right hand side, maybe?) IOGEAR tells us that the unit is designed to withstand the high heat ranges that are inside a car in So-Cal. A few lucky employees have been testing and have perma-mounted the unit to their cars without any problems from heat stress.
Don’t mount and drive! Our lawyer asked us to mention that in some states, it is illegal to mount items to the your front windshield. It will be best to check you local state laws before mounting and driving.
If you’re in a non-mount state, you’ll be happy to know that IOGEAR has thought of you with a handy clip solution that you can put on your visor. Just flip the visor to the sun and you’re good to go.
We’re hoping to do a detailed review of this eco-friendly gadget after CES.

The thieves out there will make sure that it does not stay in your vehicle very long.So I don’t think the sun or heat will be a factor.
