We can all look forward to Avatar in 3D in our own homes next year. Not the crappy blue-red paper glasses, but full on polarized almost professional grade special glasses. These glasses are paired with special monitors (essentially the same HD, 1080p, 120hz (or 240hz) LCD’s running special firmware/software) that produce a spectacular movie theater like 3D experience in your own home.

CES has gone 3D all over and LG didn’t escape the wave of home 3D. LG demoed their solutions in full on projector models as well as LCD screens.

The biggest thing here, besides the hardware is the content. Have no fear! We’ll all be double dipping our blu-ray collections next year as many movies will get the 3D treatment much like DVD’s are offered in 3D (*cough*crappy anaglyph*cough*) today. Beyond that, LG also demoed their partnership with DirecTV’s HD-3D home service. Launching in 2010, DirecTV will offer sports, on-demand, movies, and other programming in 3D.

It all looks really cool, but I’m not sure about how much I want to watch TV like sports and broadcast programming wearing 3D specs. They’re not the anaglyph glasses of old, but still a plastic pair of modern 3D glasses are like sunglasses…and I’m just not sure about watching everyday programming with glasses on. Movies are completely acceptable and absolutely welcomed, though.

We’ll have full impressions shortly.
