Actually, the line should probably read “Jay Leno-Conan O’Brien…FIGHT!”, but that’s okay. Breaking news from CNN and other media sources report that Conan O’Brien has rejected NBC’s plan to move Jay Leno from 10pm back into the 11:30pm slot.

If you haven’t been following O’Brien and Jay Leno’s man-handling of NBC, let us recap for you.

Jay Leno and NBC came to an agreement 6-years ago about having Leno leaving The Tonight Show. Conan, then became the heir-apparent. However, (it’s my opinion) as Leno’s exit date came closer and closer, Mr. Crunch-All-You-Want, decided he wanted back in. Whatever happened after that, who knows, but Leno them came back and in prime-time at 10pm with The Jay Leno Show. Probably more aptly called, “The Tonight Show…Only Earlier”, and just as boring as that title.

Now Leno’s show has been tanking, and I mean really poorly in the ratings. Recent reports indicate 1.4 household rating. That means a little less than 1.5million people watch Jay Leno’s show, compared to Conan’s 2.9 share which means roughly a hair over 3million people (double Jay’s show).

That’s bad, so NBC is scrambling to do something about it. In their genius and quest not to piss off Jay Leno, NBC is working to move Jay Leno back into 11:30 and have Conan back into the 12:05am slot. Letting Conan keep The Tonight Show, but pushing not just Conan, but the legacy of The Tonight Show back to 12:05am.

How in the world is that not confusing to viewers? Is Leno’s show the Tonight Show or is Conan’s show?

So Conan is firing back by saying he won’t do a 12:05am show called The Tonight Show.

I say, “Go Conan!”. My message to Jay Leno? Enough is enough. Back away while you’re on top, seriously. Don’t pull a Brett Favre and play for two teams before bagging it. Seriously, we’ve all had enough of that.

To me, I always thought that having a talk show at 10pm was a bad idea. I’d much rather watch some drama or action show after I put the kids to sleep. A little piece of scmutz-TV before watching the news or heading off to bed. It’s like grabbing a slice of chocolate cake from the fridge and cold glass of milk before bed. It just feels like the right thing to, might not be the best thing, but just feels right.

Leno’s show at 10pm just never fit in. To me, it’s like getting a candy bar, being told it’s a candy bar, then eating it only to find out it’s Ex-Lax. That’s right…I went there.

I hope Conan gets to stay on NBC with The Tonight Show. If not, I for one will follow where-ever he goes. A guy who does skits like “In the Year 3000″ can’t be all that bad!

(Editor’s Note: I’ve never liked Jay Leno’s show. When I watch late night, I watch Letterman’s show and switched back to NBC for Conan.)

(Editor’s Note 2: Okay…I get it. It’s not tech related. Stop flamming my inbox with comments guys! You’d think a post like this would garner 30+ e-mails from Conan haters…sheesh! Leave it on the site fer crying out loud!)
