Really, that’s what Demy is. It’s an awesome product that we couldn’t fit into a category, but whatever its category is, it’s the best at it!
Demy is a simple touchscreen recipe reader that connects to your PC or Mac and allows you download any recipe you might find. It helps that you’ve got 2500 recipes ready to go at Key Ingredient’s site. Some of the recipes are easy and some can be down-right challenging, so there’s a variety to choose from. They’re organized from the get-go into simple easy to understand categories. Almost all look like they’ll be fantastic.

And what’s a device for the kitchen if it can’t take it? Demy is designed to take batter, flour, and even a splash (not a dunk) or two of water. They’ve sealed off ports and made sure the touchscreen is cleanable with a wipe and sealed so no tempura batter can get in there. If it does, it’s easy to clean with a wipe down.
Perfectly angled base so you can tilt it and place it any which way to get a great view of the recipe while you’re working. Built in features include a timer feature (with 3 adjustable timers), conversions (from ml to tsp, to lbs and cups) to help you with recipes from anywhere and anyone, but also a cool substitute feature that lets you swap out one ingredient for something closer so you’re not running around looking for the exact item. They’ve thought of everything…well everything except for the built in projector with holographic display of Jacque Pepin to walk you through French made easy.

Demy caught my attention at CES because, well look at it, it looks like a nook! I stayed with it because I love to cook. It’s one of the few things that I enjoy doing that is both relaxing and stressful at the same time. It really helps me to get my imagination and creative juices going. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that I get to eat whatever I make, but I truly enjoy making something that other people (my family) enjoy eating. I get a real sense of joy watching other people eat and enjoy something I’ve made, I mean next to sex, eating is probably the most animalistic part of our nature.
It also doesn’t hurt that my parents have owned a restaurant for my entire life and I’ve watched my dad 7 days a week (or whenever it go busy and they need me to help) after school make stuff. I mean, I could debone a chicken with a cleaver in 35 seconds by the time most kids were learning to drive.
So, I get a look at something like Demy and I just fall for it. Priced at $299 and currently sold out everywhere you look for it. Stop ordering the take-out and pizza get a Demy and start cooking for yourself.
You don’t want to be like these folks, do you?
