In car USB charing, induction charging, battery powered charging, even solar panels built into backpacks, all products designed to help you keep your mobile devices charged up and ready to go.

Now it looks like Apple wants in on the game with their iPod. Cool article over at EDN.com points to Apple’s patent application for a solar-powered iPod.

Not beyond the realm of possibility and it would certainly fit Apple’s MO of driving an application into a standard component. But it’s just a little hard to imagine solar panels on an iPod like you see on calculators. Just seems kinda weird, but hey, I’m sure folks will line up to upgrade (me included!).
