Here’s a fun one that we almost didn’t believe. Lydia Sung over at NeoSeeker.com is reporting that that a Chinese company in Shenzhen is accusing Apple of stealing their designs.

Yes…we all went collectively, “Wha-wha-What??!!”

We’re not taking a shot at the Chinese (some of us ARE Chinese), but usually in the whole worldwide IP game, it’s the other way around. Still, the article goes on and provides a link for the “P88″ on Alibaba.com. Lydia also mentions the specs: (we think pretty nice) Webcam, ethernet, 250GB HDD, bigger screen, 1GB of RAM, and 1.5hours of battery life. The image sports Windows 7 logo, so we’re guessing it’s compatible.

We found this totally hard to believe so we checked into it a little bit more. The company is called Shenzhen Dragon Brother Industrial and they’ve been at this for a while now, so I guess you could argue that this predates the iPad thus Apple stole their design. I guess. But here’s the thing, if the processor, screen size, and whole bunch of other stuff including the OS were the same, then yes, I would say Apple stole their design, but you put something out there that is something that someone who is “practiced in the art” can eventually get to, then it’s not really that unique.

So, keeping in mind that my legal skills are all gleaned from watching countless hours of Law & Order, I don’t think there’s much of a case here. In fact, I’m going to go right ahead and call this headline grabbing and leave it at that.

Nice try though.

Check out the original article written by Lydia Sung here or head right over to Alibaba.com and check out the full specs.

We do have people in China that we’re connected to and we’ve asked them to contact this company regarding their pricing for Tablet PC P88 (model number P-P-P88). When we get information regarding price (minimum order of 100units) we’ll let you know so we can get 99 other people together to buy a shipment with us.

(Editor’s Note: Yes, we all laughed at the P-P-P88 name. We’re pretty juvenile sometmes.)
