We’ve been saying UWB is not dead and already explained how UWB and wireless USB are related. Now comes word, hot off PressWire that folks are working to bring wireless USB (and the associated UWB radios) on the Mac.
Wisair is bringing wireless display technology onto the Mac with Wireless USB DisplayDock. Details are sketchy as the press release is pretty broad. From what we’ve seen of similar applications on PC’s and TV’s, it’s going to be a USB dongle with a UWB radio built into it and wireless connecting to a receiving unit with USB and monitor (DVI, VGA or even both). It’s a simple effortless dock.
We’ll be away from our MacWorld Conferences tomorrow and hitting the Expo floor. If we’re able to find anything like this in practice, we’ll be sure to report back.
For now, check out the press release here.
We love to say it…we told you UWB was not dead!
