I bet you didn’t know, but JPL down in So-Cal has more than a few Macs in there. In fact, when certain Mars rovers landed and started doing their thing, more than a few folks from Apple were in attendance.

So Macs and astronomy go hand in hand. Carina Software aims to show you that it’s true. They’ve got a host of applications on Mac specially designed to control your telescope through your iPhone/iPod Touch or available Mac.

Their newest product, SkyFi, provides a point-to-point WiFi connection between the serial interface on a telescope mount to your Mac or iPhone/iPod Touch. The idea is unique and very simple. In execution, it’s pretty flawless and can help novice and advanced amateur star gazers alike.

Their app, SkyVoyager and SkyGazer, clearly explain what you’re looking for in simple easy to follow language. Find it, and if you have SkyFi and and compatible mount, you’ll be looking at it for real in no time.

If you’re a space nut like the rest of us geeks and have the time and money to invest in some serious star gazing, then these product are definitely worth a look.
