High quality iPod speakers seems like an oxymoron sometimes. It just doesn’t make sense. Many people expect cheap tinny sounds, but something truly worthy of sitting on the shelf? Impossible.

Some systems come close (Logitech mm50 are my fav), while overpriced systems like Bose SoundDock, just can’t justify their high prices when other much lower cost units can beat them in terms of sound quality.

So, when you see a $359 iPod dock/speaker solution from Kanto, you can understand why I’m a little skeptical. Turn the speaker on, and you’ll be blown away by the sound.

Absolutely spectacular. Nothing else, except for a full sound system, comes close in my opinion. This is a single shelf sound system in itself. It’s hefty and quality construction. Weighing in at what I estimate to be somewhere between 30-35lbs, this isn’t something you carry around.

The sound is room filling good. Full dynamic range from excellent bass and lows all the way up to the highs. Quality sound like this is just a bargain at $359.

Keep in mind, I didn’t get an opportunity to go full ears on. Still, even from the floor I could hear that this pair of speakers would blow away the comparably priced, but no where near as good sounding, Bose speakers away.

I’d love to go ears on with one in the future, but for now, take my word for it. Get these if you’re looking for a nice home dock/audio solution for your iPod. You won’t be disappointed.
