Who doesn’t like a solid puzzle game? It’s the perfect style of game for a mobile device like Android as most of these games are simple pick-up and play games. You can easily put it down and not worry about your progress in the game. They’re addicting enough to keep you playing to burn a few minutes of waiting time. It’s that balance between engaging and quickly droppable that really makes these games work.

Bad puzzlers though can make you angry with frustration and you’ll never go back to them again. But, it’s a forumla devs have had a lot of work to get right. And if you can’t get it right, then you can copy someone else’s formula and clone it.

Frozen Bubble for Android is such an app. It works because it’s based on the tried and true Bubble Bobble puzzle games.

Simple, line up 3 or more colored balls together to clear each level. A touch screen interface allows you to move your arrow pointed shooter and a simple tap on the main playing field will send that bubble going.

Colors are bright and interface is solid. Controls are bit too slippery as you can easily overshoot or send a bubble flying when you were really trying to tweak your aim. Other than those issues, it’s a nice game. Quiet though. No music, just cheers and applause when you clear a level and the sound of bouncing balls and them sticking on the existing bubble stack.

Still, it’s free and a good time waster. I’d really like to tell you who wrote this game, but the dev made the “about” screen with some really funky fonts that’s pretty difficult to find out who wrote it or where to get more information on it. It shouldn’t take this much effort to find out more about the game or the dev, so dig into it from the Android Marketplace.

Worth downloading and it will definitely help you pass the time.
