If you write things down(and you should) then you need AwesomeNote. AwesomeNote has replaced notepad as my goto note app. I got it was because it allows creation of folders where I can organize and group my notes. It’s also a multi-purpose app. AwesomeNote supports creating lists where I can check off items, like a to-do list, but it can be used as just a standard notepad.
I’ve used a couple other note apps and this is the best. Loads quickly and has nice looking backgrounds, which happen to be customizable too! I find it easier on the eyes to read off of white text off a black background.
You can also set 0-3 stars for each note, a-la iTunes’ song rating. I use this to prioritize my to-do notes and I can also set a due date for each note to combat my procrastinating tendencies (doesn’t always work though).
Almost a bonus feature and an excellent pack-in: all of the folders and notes can be synced up to google docs. It’s easy to view and modify them on the any platform once they’ve loaded up into the cloud, even when writing longer notes. Download to PC/Mac, edit and I just re-sync with with my iPhone and I have my documents to go.

A couple downsides I found were that there is no way to have nested folders. Folders must be top level. Call it the programmer in me, but I’d like to have nested folders with notes allowed at the same level as a folder so I dont have a million folders on the top level.
This app costs 3.99 on the iTunes store and it is definitely worth it. They push out new features quite often so this app should keep improving over time.
