There was a time in Hollywood where Jean-Claude Van Damme was to be the next accented action hero, a-la Arnold. Some really bad script choices later, he’s now a direct-to-DVD-lucky-to-make-it-on-TV movie star.

I think Street Fighter should get the blame here. It’s sad, but you sort of saw it coming with this flick. It’s soooo bad.

Seriously! Ryu and Ken are a comedy duo in this flick. That right there should tell you that this movie is bad. C’mon!!! The cartoons get it right and Ryu and Ken are the heros.

This movie plays out like Pokemon style. That means somewhere along the line, you’re going to get intro’d to each movie creation of the VG character and towards the end (if not right at the end), there’s going to be a signature move moment for those characters.

To that end, SF:The Flick, follows script. Unfortuantely, that’s one of things wrong with it, including some crappy acting by folks just going through the motions, crappy writing…oh heck…to quote The Critic, “it stinks!”

Except for one thing. Raul Julia delivers M. Bison. He played M. Bison in the flick so well, that it’s a highlight in this movie just for that. He was the pretty darn scary to me. The M.Bison character really hits on all points and you really believe that Raul Julia is M. Bison in-carnate. He was the best part of the movie and it’s a shame that this was his last movie. Great actor, one of my favorites in a really crappy movie.

That’s about it. Let’s hope that Warcraft: The Movie has no resemblance to any of the 3 flicks we looked at.

Here the trailer equally sucks turkey butts, so the movie must be just as bad or worse, right? Yeesh, it’s all bad.

Check out one of the best fan-made tributes to Raul Julia in SF:The Flick.

(Editor’s Note: Besides bad acting and crappy script, what really killed the movie is that the Japanese anime flicks were waaaaayyyyy better. They’re better than any Street Fighter movie…yes we’re looking at you Lana. Check out those if you’re looking for some Street Fighter action.)
