We should have known better. When you get a press release from a UK Company on April 1st, take it with a grain of salt. In fact, make that a huge QE II tub of salt. Why? Chances are, the press release is an April Fool’s Joke.
And we fell for it hook, line, and sinker. Fry us up and serve us with some chips and don’t forget the malted vinegar. We’re a bunch of suckers. Funny thing is, we were all on the look-out for such stories (you know spaghetti on trees) as the BBC was full of it that day. But Intego’s folks made it through our bologna screen.
What in the world are we talking about? Well, we got a press release from the fine folks at Intego promoting their ecofriendly, edible packaging.
“…Intego announcing that it is the first software company to introduce organically-grown edible packaging…”
The press release goes on mention that the packaging will be available in different flavors, even roasted chicken. For good measure, we even got a logo of the edible package.
Curious, we went out to local Mac retailer to look. We sent 3 different folks to 3 different stores. Upon finding the Intego software, sans “eat me!” label, our Editors proceeded to ask when such packaging will be available.
You guessed it, everyone, and I mean everyone looked at us like our breath stank of kidney pie (which is really tastey BTW) or worse…plum crazy. Unable to get anywhere with the retailer, we proceeded to ask Intego’s fine folks if we could get a sample sent to us stateside. You know how much we like testing food.
This morning, we got our response. Yup. It was an April Fool’s Joke, and all of us at Tech Bucket Blog went running back to our beds to hide under the covers for the day.
Nicely done folks. We applaud you for you efforts. We warn you though, Sara’s pretty good with plastic wrap, so watch your toilets next year. You might be surprised.
(Editor’s Note: Seriously well played Intego. Good show! But watch out next year, we just might send Sara overseas. The Yanks are comin’…maybe.)
