I don’t think “oops” quite covers IBM’s gaffe, but down in the land of Oz, during a security conference of all places, IBM inadvertently handed out SB thumb drives loaded with malware.
Blogopshere hilarity quickly ensued. Ironic jokes, puns, you name it, spread quicker than, well, the malware did.
A jab here and a jab there is nothing to big blue, but the negative public image of spreading malware at a security conference is a tough hole to dig out of. Funny…but tough.
A lot of speculation, but those in the know guess that IBM probably outsourced the the USB dongles and whatever computer used to load up the image files was/were infected with the two types of malware.
Check out the full details over at NetworkWorld.com.
If we were a big budget type of blog, we would’ve done something funnier, like a “Real Men of Genius” take on IBM’s situation. You know, “Real Men Of Genius: Mr. Malware Infected PC User”. Sure, with lines like: “You share Anna Kornikova with the whole office without even knowing it.” or how about “Windows pop open and you just close them because you think it’s the magic elf in your computer saying “hello!”…”
Okay, not funny enough…but check out this Real Men Of Genius clip. Happy Monday folks!
