BP, you deserve everything you get. Not only do I believe in my soul that you’re lying to us about how much oil that you spilled, but you’re going to cover your arses every chance you get.
Now, a few crafty (and perhaps really, really bored) bloggers have called you on your faux-pas. You fixed up a few images that were released to newspapers and press and you got caught.
Serves you right for trying to fool the public.
Yeah, you touched up the photos (or the photog did it, right?), sharpened a thing here, brightened something there, all to make your brand look better than the murky mess it’s in now.
I think it’s absolutely deplorable and quite literately it’s throwing oil on the fire. You’ve already got a PR nightmare on your hands and anything you do is going to be scrutinized. Why piss people off even more?
I just don’t get it. Rather than focus your efforts on the oil spill and clean-up, you’ve got your PR folks in full spin mode. Oh, did I just call you on that? Yeah…most of America sees right through those friendly commercials you’ve got. While you’re spending millions showing white sandy beaches in the background, the Gulf States deal with losses of livelihood and destruction of beaches everyday.
Why not, rather than spinning, put more into the recovery efforts?
Instead you try to shove a veggie burger down my throat and tell me it’s really meaty? I’m not buying it and I hope you get all the lashing out that’s comin’ to you.
