If you frequently check in with Tech Bucket Blog, then you probably know by now that we’re sort of, kind of skeptical on the whole 3D at home craze.
If you don’t, what’s wrong with you?? You should check in with us every hour because you know, we’re shameless in our quest for page-views. OK, OK…so we have our ethics and principles and these silly (really HR, this is just a joke) things in our code of conduct that we adhere to (like not paying $5,000 for misbegotten property all in the sake of writing up a million page-view getting story…would be nice though).
It’s not that we hate 3D, but just the opposite. We love it the whole idea of it, but not when most vendors are just milking the heck out of it and charging us an arm-and-a-leg without any content.
For games, at least the ones we’ve tried, 3D glasses never really added anything except maybe feeling really cool for a few seconds. That’s about it though. I can’t say that wearing 3D glasses got me a higher frag count or made me a better player in any way.
Sooo…with all that being said, I have to give props over to the guys at Digital Storm. They’re rolling out a complete 3-screen (23″ standard configuration), PC+dual-SLI-graphics card+3D glasses, basically the whole package starting at around $2,800.
I mean, c’mon, it’s got 3 LCD monitors included!!! Price wise, I’m impressed and drooling. It’s hard to be a skeptic when the overall price and config is thrown in your face.
I mean sure, the standard base config could use more HDD space, maybe an upgrade on the graphics card, but overall, it’s not too shabby.

Secretly, I have this lust for Sega’s F355 Challenge arcade game. The three screen cockpit is something I dream about. With Digital Storm’s little pre-boxed config, it’s something that I can finally realize without too much effort.
Check out the details here.
