Droid 2 is the true successor to Motorola’s original Droid. From the looks of things
I personally haven’t seen it yet. I stopped by kiosk during lunch and they didn’t even have a demo unit available. The full retail stores should have them today though.
Our guys on vacation who spotted one this morning, report it’s a worthy successor in a funky gunmetal blueish color, it looks “bad-ass” as a Droid lover told me.
It’s got more of everything, just like all the Android devices rolling out. More RAM, more processing power, more megapixels, and probably more commercials.
Surprisingly though, the biggest concern isn’t on the updated hardware specs, but focused on the keyboard.
The Droid keyboard, in a word, sucked. Little, tiny, air-pocket bubbles that really was one of the most cramped, and poorly designed keyboards known to thumb-type kind. On Droid 1 you had this d-pad like device on the right. If it was a touchpad and Droid had an on-screen pointer, then yeah, this would’ve been great.
So Droid 2, tries to fix the issue with an improved keypad and directional keys instead of the d-pad. I’ll have to check it out, but initial feedback from our guys isn’t so good.
I’m thinking though, they’re all blinded by the possibility of iPhone on Verizon in January, so everything else is just crap until then.
