Move bundle pricing was announced earlier this week. If you’ve already spent $300 on a PS3 slim, then you’ll just need to spend an extra $100-$150 to get your “Move” on (cheap pun…please forgive me).
If you’ve been dying to jump into PS3 (yet another cheap reference, I promise, my last) and haven’t done it earlier because you just have to have your motion controller, then get ready to drop down $400.
You can pick-up a new PS3 slim with a whopping 320GB HDD and Move bundle (enough for one gamer).
Like Xbox 360 Kinect, PS3’s Move is a high priced premium.
The main issue for us is both Kinect and Move are add-on controllers. Typically, add-ons don’t do all that well. The gaming graveyard is full of Powergloves, Sega CD’s, 32X’s, SuperScopes, and a ton of other junk that were hyped, but failed miserably.
There were bundles back then too. The thing for us right now is when we look at Wii (no-matter how junky you think the games are), that console was built from the ground up with a pointer as its main controller. The add-ons with Wii are the traditional controllers (which don’t sell all that well, BTW).
Likewise for PS3 and Xbox 360, the consoles were built with traditional controllers in mind. Long story short, I just don’t see how Move and Kinect attract attention of a few crapware devs and maybe a few A-list titles, but that’s it. The majority of the PS3/Xbox 360 base is still going with the game-pad they’ve got. That is unless Sony and Microsoft abandon traditional controllers altogether and shove motion down our throats.
See that happening? I didn’t think so.
I’d be excited if I’m wrong, but I just see limited quality titles to justify the cost of Move or Kinect. The rest, well, I can get crap on Wii cheaper and today…so why bother?
