Surprise! New iPod Touches are just around the weekend. News breaking that Apple’s scheduled to release these next week.

I was excited as my iPod Touch is way overdue for an upgrade, but everyone else around here let out a simultaneous “meh” at the news.

Apple’s fallen into a bit of predictable pattern as far as iPod/iPod Touches are concerned. They always come in September and iPod Touches are basically current gen iPhones stripped, so look at feel come with no surprise.

The difference being Apple not bringing on-board cameras into the iPod Touches, but you do get sexy black eye-patches on ‘em instead.

This time though, speculation is that Apple will include a camera on the new iPhone 4 based iPod Touch and we’ll finally get more details on iTunes new services (TV show rentals) next week.

Seeing the pattern makes me no less excited though. I doubt there’s a price drop in there and there hasn’t been a lot of chatter about memory so assume it’ll stay the same.

My two cents? (I know a little late) is to throw out a 128GB model for $399. That’s the one for me. I doubt Apple really cares what I think though. They just want my money and they’ll get it too.
