CostCo has always been one of my favorite, guilty pleasure of a lunch secret for a long time.

It’s just weird to have a cheap, filling, tastey lunch in a mega-lo mart, which is strangely packed during lunch.

There’s no way around it. When food (halfway decent and borderline good) is gotten at a bargain cheap price, it’s bound to win you over.

Especially when you’re hungry and have $5 in your pocket.

The famous 1/4 lbs hot-dog (or polish sausage) plus drink (with unlimited refills) for $1.50 is a long standing Costco favorite.

Best part? It fills you up and it’s a darn okay dog. Grind your own onions and pump out some relish and there’s even a choice of deli spicy or yellow mustard.

Another favorite is the chicken bake, or the BalCo Hot Pocket as some of us around here like to call it. A nice chicken-n-cheese filled gooey almost a foot-long of torpedo goodness for around $3.

There are pizza and salads too, but CostCo just rolled out a new addition: the Carne Assada Bake for around $4.

I grabbed one yesterday as part of my assignment (volunteered and fought for it) yesterday.

Good doesn’t begin to describe it. It’s a great mix of classic American carbohydrate engineering with Hispanic flavors. Take the first bite unsuspectingly, and wow. Bread. Meat. Lots of cheese. Really? What else do I have to say???!!!

You’ll find a nice crusty baked bread on the outside with real rolled up beef and cheese on the inside. It’s a statement that multiple cultures can get together and kick-out good things.

That we eat lots and lots of.

The Carne Assada Bake is rolling out in various CostCo locations. The one near me just started selling it a few weeks ago, while I’ve heard from others that the CostCo near them has yet to get it.

If it’s at your local CostCo, give this bake a try, you’ll like it.

(Editor’s Note: Sara nor Tech Bucket Blog was paid for her endorsement. However, TBB did pay for Sara’s lunch for her to try out and review CostCo’s new item. On a related note we had another editor, Joanne, try the Carne Assada Bake. Her one word review: “disgusting” sums up her feelings. Still, a few others here tried the bake and enjoyed it. Worth the $4 to give it a shot in our opinion. At least it’s something different)
