Feels like 1981? Strange, but it does to me. Collars-up are “back-in” again, along with shoulder pads (albeit really thin ones) in women’s clothing and I’ve spotted more than the fair-share of mini-skirts (or skorts) and even leg-warmers.

Leg-warmers may just be because it’s been nearly frigid in No-Cal lately.

Still, the trend continues. Vinyl is coming back, although audiophiles will argue it never really died, with sales up more than 12% this year from last.

The one-hit single is making a comeback too! Music Industry insiders report most sales this year are of the single song/singles variety. Considering iTunes offers cheap single song downloads and you can start to see why.

Although, I’ll make the argument that true artists (ones that don’t auto-tune everything to death) are rare these days than they were “back-in-the-day”.

There are only a few rare true story tellers left in the music-biz, with most being the “performance-artist” crap kind where music is secondary behind spectacle. Okay, make the argument that classic rock-bands were all about spectacle. Sure, I’ll give you that, but they still had solid tunes that rocked.

And the live shows sounded better than the recorded track. Today, too many “groups” and “artists” are “studio performers”. Have them go unplug something (especially that autotune machine) and they lose all their luster.
