We admit, we've been more than a little PO'd at Nintendo for neglecting Wii VC the last few months. We've finally progressed pasted anger, disappointment and all the other stages of Wii VC neglect. We're finally facing the truth and moving on.

Maybe it's not surprising to you, maybe you don't give a darn, but I'm completely shocked and surprised that Konami's classic NES Jackal hasn't made it to Wii VC yet.
Now, I could be wrong and maybe there's a "rebirth" of Jackal coming and Konami's just holding out. Though, with Nintendo dropping a single Wii VC game every week now, I just shrug. From..... [ read more ] May 02
The last Ikari Warriors on NES, Ikari III mixes up the classic vertical shooter completely. The game is almost unrecognizable, but that doesn't mean it's not fun, because it is a whole lotta fun. It's a game that just needs a chance.
There are no big guns in this game. You'll eventually find a few, but ammo is totally limited. Grenades are so rare,..... [ read more ] May 01
It's funny, but I liked Ikari Warriors. For a single token game, it had a lot going for it. I admit though, I don't have the same love affair for it as Sara does, but I have fond memories of Ikari Warriors II: Victory Road. I never really played it on the NES, but I spent some quality time with in the arcades.
There's a lot to like in the conversion,..... [ read more ] May 01
Ikari Warriors was one of the few cross platform games back in the day. Every system, PC, Mac, NES, C64, anything that would play a game, had a version of this game.
Call it the rash of jungle war movies back in the late '80's and '90's (Missing In Action, any Rambo flick, American Ninja, etc), there were a ton of army themed kill the bad guy in the..... [ read more ] Apr 25
It's only fair to look at at NHL '95 for SNES. We did the same yesterday for the Genesis title, but be warned...it's not pretty. If there ever was a reason to dislike the yearly release of sports titles or even pan poor quality gaming that basically is a mask for a roster update (and more cash), NHL '95 for any console (and especially SNES) is that..... During the 16-bit console wars there were few exclusive titles. Most developers, wary of getting on juggernaut Nintendo's bad side, developed games for both Genesis and SNES. Nintendo's system was graphically more powerful than the Genesis, but Sega had a big head start with a much earlier release date than Nintendo's 16-bit console.
I mention this..... [ read more ] Apr 24
One of the last great classic hockey games was NHL '95. Basic mechanics from NHL '94 remain the same. Scoring was made a bit harder and you couldn't deke your way to a goal everytime. On Sega Genesis, unlike other versions, this version featured improved player animations and graphics over NHL '94.
Slightly more detailed crowd noise and animations. The..... [ read more ]
