My contract with ATT is up at the end of October. I could've renewed a long while ago, but I haven't been too happy with my iPhone service lately. 3G coverage has been spotty at best and I hate those pesky dropped calls I keep getting. Nothing gets me going more when my friends on Verizon can make calls standing in the same spot, when I have no bars. Maybe a few other things, but not a..... [ read more ]

iPhone rumors broke loose yesterday like a competitive eater at Vegas buffet. Craziness doesn't even begin to describe the unbridled fury and pace with the rumors spread. The short of it? Apple's ordering up CDMA chips from Qualcomm for Verizon's own iPhone and production is ramping right now. Adding to the fire is even a scheduled release date: January 2011, which is a mere few months..... [ read more ]

The gavel might be just a bit early, but maybe just maybe Amazon and Apple might be guilty of doing a little price fixing. Maybe. They're both being investigated by Connecticut's Attorney General, Richard Blumenthal, for possible unfair business practices (i.e. price fixing, collusion, whatever you want to call it). It's not funny at all, but all I really want to say is this: It's about..... [ read more ]

It used to be, not so long ago, that "jailbreaking" your iPhone was a clandestine affair. You'd get routed to a few websites that while good intentioned, always gave me the feeling of being in a not so clean place. Some of those "instructional" sites had links to some not so grandma safe websites, if you get the picture. Not all mind you, but a few. Reminded me of shopping for Warez for a..... [ read more ]

I have my eye set on an iMac or at least an all-in-one Windows machine (blasphemy!!!) with similar features. Yell at me all you want, but Windows machines are a little cheaper and I could use the extra $$$ in my pocket, not Best Buy's. A closer look at the new iMac has me interested. I like the updated hardware, even though there are those among us (Mord) who aren't overly impressed with..... [ read more ]

Surprise! Updated iMacs have landed. The "new" features range from updated processors and speed bumps to the down-right surprising if not borderline innovative. Processor upgrades are to be expected and I'll leave them alone for what they are. Interesting, but not drool worthy, "I gotta have it so I'm ditching my 2 year old iMac". The thing that's really interesting for me is the option to..... [ read more ]

Sort of. While I'm no slicky-dicky attorney (I know, our lawyers are going to be plenty PO'd when they read that), it seems The Library Of Congress is totally okay with doing it. Sooo okay, they called it "a fair use" of the product. So it's all good. At least if don't mind voiding your warranty and have Apple pretty much leave you on your own. Which, not surprisingly, most folks who..... [ read more ]

I'm going to add to the rampant speculation for an iPhone 4 hardware fix to the antenna. It's not just me though. Apple's news that iPhone 4 White shipments have been delayed (again) along with a hard stop to the rubber bumper and case give-away program on September 30th, has led most spectators to guess that a hardware fix is in the works. Why else would the give-away end? What about the..... [ read more ]
