It's not all fancy roadside food stands for us you know. On a typical night, we actually hung with the locals and did what they did. Our Beijing based web-team was more than happy to bring us along on jumping Friday night. Fortunately for us, unfortunately for our readers, cameras were all confiscated after dinner so any foolishness fueled on by..... [ read more ]

So, we said the duck was good and the restaurant over 200 years old. The back story, as we were told by the locals, is that original store was somewhere near Qianamen Square (Tienamen Square). Over the year's the original store front was taken down as more than a little remodeling took over. The original store moved, to another part of Beijing. Recently..... [ read more ]

I love duck. And I love goose. Especially when it's carved by a masterful artist like this guy and cooked in traditional methods that haven't changed in over 200 years in place called Quan Ju De. Whatever "Quan Ju De" means, I don't really care. You can look it up on Wikipedia or Google it. To me, it means delicious duck (that's really a borderline..... [ read more ]

(This is part 2 of our 3 part series, ending on Monday of buying gear in Beijing). So MJ took you guys into and semi-through gear shopping in what we're calling "Beijing's Electronic Districts". They have real names (forgive my poor Pin-Yin), like Hai-Luong-Da-Xia and various other names. The ones we visited are in a part of Beijing called Haidian..... [ read more ]

Really. We haven't changed into a food blog. It's just part of our experience in Beijing. A major part of any trip (business or otherwise) is always food. In China, maybe more so than anywhere else in the world, what you eat and whom you eat it with is just as important as proper greetings when meeting someone for the first time. For us, we knew going in that most of us have never ventured..... [ read more ]

What you see above was part of the best meal we had in Beijing. Sure, we were invited by vendors, partners, adopted friends and family among others to various restaurants that were quite pricey and awesome. But, like most travelers daring (not to mention smart and lucky) enough to venture away from the norm, the best meal was a local street vendor making..... [ read more ]
