Energizer's Bunny will soon have a solar panel stitched onto its furry pink body. It's bound to happen as the going and going Bunny gears up to promote Energizers line-up of solar powered flashlights. Well thought out with each device having multiple charge methods. The Energizer Solar Flashlight (MSRP $24.99) offers kinetic (via hand-crank) charging as..... [ read more ]

A train that follows existing traffic patterns and rides over cars? Sounds like a monorail or an "el". But really, it's a concept bus/tram design that we'll see in China in a matter of years. Translated from Chinese, it's called the "3D Fast Bus". Really, I double checked it. Funky name aside, it looks like an elevated subway car with it's own..... [ read more ]

Electric planes are nothing new. From a toy hobbyist perspective, they've been around for a long while now. Remote control though, is a far cry from full commercial application. Still, it might (with a Grand Canyon size tub of salt) happen as personal aircraft are being showcased using electrical engines. Let me get to it. These are all fun and dandy..... [ read more ]

The only thing holding me back from dumping my Scion for a Volt (besides that I love my little Mosquito) is that Volt's going to be just a little out of my price range when it releases in California in 2011. Still, the car is looking better and better to my Dad who can afford it. C'mon, Dad, that '99 Camry needs a replacing, don't ya think? The AP reports..... [ read more ]

Earth Day is quick approaching. In case you don't know, it's April 22nd, just a little over a week away. It's time to think about those 3 R's that folks keep throwing at us: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. It's an old cliched line, but it still rings true in 2010. As we've said before, whatever your feelings on the subject (no global warming, etc, etc), you have to admit that we all share one..... This is the first post from Joanne Li, dictated over the phone and typed by Sara Baker. Joanne Li post: Borrriiinnngggg! I didn't do much today except clean up around the apartment. Couldn't turn on the TV (Sara took my cable box!). I did manage to finally sort through my junk and found a ton of stuff to be recycled and taken to Good Will. Lots of old clothes, books and even a few toys..... [ read more ]

First to report in about unplugging, Sr. Editor Shawn Chen. Translated from faxed hand written post by Sara Baker. Posting by Shawn Chen: First off, this was probably one of the more quieter days I've spent. No scouring for news and calling people to get samples in or anything like that. Just quiet time to reflect. I have to admit, I felt a little naked without my phone on me. I went..... [ read more ]

We're getting ready to unplug. Not all of us, just two lucky (or unlucky) Editors. They'll be reporting back to those of us who are still connected, and we'll report back on the progress. We're sending our folks for 3 days without going on-line and with minimal use of technology. Except for a few plugged in gear (oven, microwave, TV-for news only, and a..... [ read more ]
