Sorry Wii hockey fans, no NHL 2011 game for you, but EA Sports is still going to show you the love with EA Sports NHL Slapshot for Wii.
It’s a ground level up effort for Wii that started out as a simple gathering that turned into tinkering around with duct-tape, Wii remote and nunchuk. Combine [...]

Back when NHL was on Fox with puck cams, shooting streak tails, rocket sound effects, and glowing pucks, someone thought it was a good idea to make an over the top hockey game.
At first glance, you may have thought the screen shot from NBA Jam. Nope. It’s from Jam’s (better in my opinion) [...]

Stanley Cup Finals are in full swing this weekend and we couldn’t help ourselves looking at a few old school arcade hockey classics.
It would easy to just post something about air-hockey and Super Chexx (bubble hockey). Those two would make solid articles, but we wanted to look at the often overlooked arcade classics.
Hit The [...]

It’s only fair to look at at NHL ‘95 for SNES. We did the same yesterday for the Genesis title, but be warned…it’s not pretty. If there ever was a reason to dislike the yearly release of sports titles or even pan poor quality gaming that basically is a mask for a roster [...]

During the 16-bit console wars there were few exclusive titles. Most developers, wary of getting on juggernaut Nintendo’s bad side, developed games for both Genesis and SNES. Nintendo’s system was graphically more powerful than the Genesis, but Sega had a big head start with a much earlier release date than Nintendo’s 16-bit console.

One of the last great classic hockey games was NHL ‘95. Basic mechanics from NHL ‘94 remain the same. Scoring was made a bit harder and you couldn’t deke your way to a goal everytime. On Sega Genesis, unlike other versions, this version featured improved player animations and graphics over NHL ‘94.

There have been a lot of hockey video games. From C64, Apple II, IBM AT’s…you name the system and chances are there was a hockey game for it. Stanley Cup Playoffs are in full swing. First round action has seen some pretty awesome games. Unfortunately, my Buffalo Sabres are down 3-2 in a best of 7 series to the much hated Boston Bruins.
Nothing against Boston, it’s just that Sabres fans hate every team they play in the play-offs. There’s really [...]
