Poor Dell. It's not been a good week for them. First, they try to buy a storage company (3PAR) and get out-bid by HP, by a lot. Now, they're much touted Android devices are taking a nasty beating in the reviews.
It doesn't help Dell that their Android devices are running 1.5 and 1.6 Android OS. Almost inexplicable that you would even release an Android device without the latest and much..... [ read more ] Aug 25

Phased out, slow, clunky keyboard and all, Droid 1 users finally are getting Android 2.2 (FroYo). Updates started trickling out over the last two weeks and we finally got our's last night around 2AM.
During a sleeping pee-break (not at the sametime of course), I do what most smartphone junkies do, check my phone for any super important 2AM e-mails. Even if the inbox is empty, I still feel..... [ read more ] Aug 12
My contract with ATT is up at the end of October. I could've renewed a long while ago, but I haven't been too happy with my iPhone service lately. 3G coverage has been spotty at best and I hate those pesky dropped calls I keep getting.
Nothing gets me going more when my friends on Verizon can make calls standing in the same spot, when I have no bars. Maybe a few other things, but not a..... [ read more ] Aug 12
Droid 2 is the true successor to Motorola's original Droid. From the looks of things
I personally haven't seen it yet. I stopped by kiosk during lunch and they didn't even have a demo unit available. The full retail stores should have them today though.
Our guys on vacation who spotted one this morning, report it's a worthy successor in a funky gunmetal blueish color, it looks "bad-ass" as..... [ read more ] Aug 10
iPhone rumors broke loose yesterday like a competitive eater at Vegas buffet. Craziness doesn't even begin to describe the unbridled fury and pace with the rumors spread.
The short of it? Apple's ordering up CDMA chips from Qualcomm for Verizon's own iPhone and production is ramping right now. Adding to the fire is even a scheduled release date: January 2011, which is a mere few months..... [ read more ] Aug 04
New BB-OS 6.0 aside, the phone itself leaves me woefully unimpressed. Blackberries are the leader in the corporate world, but RIM is fast losing market share to iPhone and Android phones.
RIM's devices have been the standard with which every other smartphone has been judge. It's no joke to say these guys practically invented the smartphone market.
Messaging and all the aspect of corporate..... [ read more ] Aug 03
It used to be, not so long ago, that "jailbreaking" your iPhone was a clandestine affair. You'd get routed to a few websites that while good intentioned, always gave me the feeling of being in a not so clean place.
Some of those "instructional" sites had links to some not so grandma safe websites, if you get the picture.
Not all mind you, but a few. Reminded me of shopping for Warez for a..... [ read more ] Aug 03
You Android fanboys out there, don't get all hyped up and excited over news that Android OS is out-pacing iPhone OS in terms of growth percentage. I have to deal with Android lovers here on a regular basis, but I still clutch my iPhone as being far superior to what they use (even though my network coverage stinks compared to their's).
Yes, Android is gaining, but it's far from being the..... [ read more ]
