I'm usually one to decry Wii ports and stay clear like week old sashimi. For Sid Meier's Pirates!, I'll make an exception.
Regardless of the platform, quality, well designed games like Pirates! usually turn out to be fun and well worth it. Consdier that I have every version of Sid Meier's Pirates! (from Apple IIc Pirates to Pirates! Gold) on every..... [ read more ] Aug 26

Outside of Geekdom, was there ever a time when Dungeons & Dragons was the "cool" thing to do?
In short, yes, there was. For a bright few microseconds of our timeline, it was okay call yourself a Dungeon Master without someone calling the cops on you.
Much too quickly, geeks en masse found joyful escapism through D&D. Scribbling maps and character attributes on every scrap piece of paper..... [ read more ] Aug 24
Today, we bring you another in our series of retro/classic Saturday morning cartoons: Turbo Teen.
To understand Turbo Teen, you have to set the stage properly. Studios were in a flurry of doing toy tie-ins with Saturday morning cartoons. Everything from cereal, pasta, light-bulbs and toys were fair game. The mid-late '80's were full of shamefully crappy shows and toys for kids.
The cynics..... [ read more ] Jul 31
In between by StarCraft 2 rounds of RTS fun, I decided to try to finish up Ace Combat 5 on PS2. Old school flying fun.
If you've played this game, then you know that one of the hardest levels to score the coveted "S" grade on is mission 18b otherwise known as "8492nd" where you get a ton of enemy fighters throwing missiles at you every turn you take.
Fly reckless, slow down: instant..... [ read more ] Jul 27
I think it's an inevitability. Unless something goes completely wrong, I think Sara's going to have to deal with her fear of clowns yet again as Aero The Acrobat had a sequel.
And I liked it wayyy more than the first one.
There's a lot to like and control issues from the last game are mostly gone and Aero controls as fluid as an Acrobat..... [ read more ] Jun 17
Everything classic and retro is awesome again. Sonic's transition into 3D hasn't always been good gaming fun. Dreamcast's Sonic Adventure aside, it's hard to find a quality Sonic 3D title. Sad to say, but true.
Sega is looking to change all of that with a reboot of sorts to their flagship mascot with Sonic Colors for Wii. If our first play impressions..... [ read more ] Jun 09
Dig it, I know this review is a few years late, but I'm in the mood. I love FIFA and this is one of my favorite FIFA games from my favorite tournament.
Why? Selfish reasons, but I was lucky enough to go to a Tournament match back in 2002 in Korea. The energy was so awesome and I enjoyed every minute of the match. I gobbled this game up the minute I saw..... [ read more ] Jun 06
Summer movie season is here and in full swing. That means craptacular tie-in games are coming too.
We're mostly subjected to home console games that most folks avoid or rent. Unfortunately, back in the golden arcade era, you couldn't really do any of that.
A small quarter investment into a bad game means a lot to a 10 year old, you know. Especially to those who hadn't yet learned movie..... [ read more ]
