A homemade card is a perfect fit for Mother's Day and doubly better considering it's Retro Weekends here at Tech Bucket Blog.
Frankly, I don't know who made this card, but it looks pretty artsy crafty in a 2nd grader kind of way. I take it back, I've seen 2nd graders these days, and this is definitely more of a 1st grader's handy work.

Multiplayer back in the day meant you were right next to the guy(s). No fancy cable connecting you, just good ol' fashioned socializing in front of a digital screen jamming buttons and yelling at each other. Get angry enough and the on-screen action crosses over into the real world.
Nothing says "fun!" more than that!

Data East had some awesome arcade games back in the day. If you play them enough, you'll soon discover the machines were all based on just a few arcade boards. You'll find different titles and characters, but overall play mechanics and styles were the same.
That doesn't make their games any less fun (or token hungry). It just goes to show you, solid..... [ read more ] May 08
We admit, we've been more than a little PO'd at Nintendo for neglecting Wii VC the last few months. We've finally progressed pasted anger, disappointment and all the other stages of Wii VC neglect. We're finally facing the truth and moving on.
There are a ton of classic arcade games that have a place on Wii's Virtual Console. These games would make..... [ read more ] May 02
Maybe it's not surprising to you, maybe you don't give a darn, but I'm completely shocked and surprised that Konami's classic NES Jackal hasn't made it to Wii VC yet.
Now, I could be wrong and maybe there's a "rebirth" of Jackal coming and Konami's just holding out. Though, with Nintendo dropping a single Wii VC game every week now, I just shrug. From..... [ read more ] May 02
The last Ikari Warriors on NES, Ikari III mixes up the classic vertical shooter completely. The game is almost unrecognizable, but that doesn't mean it's not fun, because it is a whole lotta fun. It's a game that just needs a chance.
There are no big guns in this game. You'll eventually find a few, but ammo is totally limited. Grenades are so rare,..... [ read more ] May 01
It's funny, but I liked Ikari Warriors. For a single token game, it had a lot going for it. I admit though, I don't have the same love affair for it as Sara does, but I have fond memories of Ikari Warriors II: Victory Road. I never really played it on the NES, but I spent some quality time with in the arcades.
There's a lot to like in the conversion,..... [ read more ] May 01
Ikari Warriors was one of the few cross platform games back in the day. Every system, PC, Mac, NES, C64, anything that would play a game, had a version of this game.
Call it the rash of jungle war movies back in the late '80's and '90's (Missing In Action, any Rambo flick, American Ninja, etc), there were a ton of army themed kill the bad guy in the..... [ read more ]
