What do you do when you've run out water or can't get access to clean water? When we're camping, we usually take a pack of iodine pills to kill any nasties in the local water stream. Still large particles and other fungal nasties can get through and cause some havoc with your body. Not a pleasant experience and potentially life threatening, especially..... [ read more ]

There is probably no cell phone on the market today that's as durable as Casio's G-zOne series (available at your local Verizon Wireless Store). These phones combine the ruggedness of a G-Shock watch into a pretty sweet flip style cell phone. Considering our survival series this week, Casio's G-zOne Rock is the phone that will survive with you and has..... [ read more ]

In any situation, survival or otherwise, humans need water. There's no doubt about that. Without food, we can keep going for weeks, but without water it's really tough to get by beyond a few days. In extreme conditions or times of disaster the worst thing that can happen is you run out of water or can't get access to clean water. There are companies who..... [ read more ]

The package claims to be US..... [ read more ]

This is part of our continuing look at "geek" survival gear. As part of our survival gear series this week, we're looking at food as well. In desperate situations, you might not have access to a refrigerator or local grocery store full of food. Even if you do, you might not have the means to cook it or get there and bring it home again. Even in..... [ read more ]

I'm not happy about this assignment. I pushed J-Li, Bubba and the other Editors to do this, but I got picked in the lottery. I agree...this was rigged from the start. I'm just getting better from my stomach bug so my Doctor actually tells me that it might not be a bad idea to take it easy and these food bars are easily digestible. Though, even she's not.....
