Remember the 3D invasion from CES 2010? There's been a steady stream of 3D "stuff" vying for your home entertainment dollar. Fujifilm kicked off it's glasses-less 3D products with FujiFine Pix 3D W1 and all the related products (picture frames, printed photos and everything else in between)...all without the need of glasses. Outside of Geekdom, was there ever a time when Dungeons & Dragons was the "cool" thing to do? In short, yes, there was. For a bright few microseconds of our timeline, it was okay call yourself a Dungeon Master without someone calling the cops on you. Much too quickly, geeks en masse found joyful escapism through D&D. Scribbling maps and character attributes on every scrap piece of paper..... [ read more ]

Today, we bring you another in our series of retro/classic Saturday morning cartoons: Turbo Teen. To understand Turbo Teen, you have to set the stage properly. Studios were in a flurry of doing toy tie-ins with Saturday morning cartoons. Everything from cereal, pasta, light-bulbs and toys were fair game. Instead, I'm lucky enough to have a brother that jumped..... [ read more ]

(There are no spoilers in this post) Deadliest Catch on The Discovery Channel is one of my favorite shows. There's just something about watching crab being caught. It's strange as I normally hate reality TV like split-pea soup. What?! Have you ever had split-pea soup??!! Deadliest Catch is by far, the best reality style show out (outside of the food..... I love this show. I hate to admit it so openly, but I love it. It's my favorite slice of junk TV, but it's like eating cajun pork grinds and a nice IPA. You know you shouldn't, you know it's bad for you, but its sooo good. With Howey Mandel on the show, it's gotten even better. I love Howey. I love the way he cracks jokes and the banter between the..... [ read more ]

A lot has been written, tweeted, facebooked, texted, whatever, about Gary Coleman in the week or so since his death. There's the "he got typecast and it ruined his life" thread, but there's also musings about how influential Gary Coleman and his launch vehicle, Different Strokes, was to a generation of Americans. Perhaps appropriate, if not strange in a way, he was influential to many new..... [ read more ]
