(This is part 2 of our 3 part series, ending on Monday of buying gear in Beijing). So MJ took you guys into and semi-through gear shopping in what we're calling "Beijing's Electronic Districts". They have real names (forgive my poor Pin-Yin), like Hai-Luong-Da-Xia and various other names. The ones we visited are in a part of Beijing called Haidian..... [ read more ]

Really. We haven't changed into a food blog. It's just part of our experience in Beijing. A major part of any trip (business or otherwise) is always food. In China, maybe more so than anywhere else in the world, what you eat and whom you eat it with is just as important as proper greetings when meeting someone for the first time. For us, we knew going in that most of us have never ventured..... [ read more ]

What you see above was part of the best meal we had in Beijing. Sure, we were invited by vendors, partners, adopted friends and family among others to various restaurants that were quite pricey and awesome. But, like most travelers daring (not to mention smart and lucky) enough to venture away from the norm, the best meal was a local street vendor making..... [ read more ]

There are unwritten rules and sacred sayings that, used..... [ read more ]

What do you do when you're traveling overseas for two+ weeks for work? Well, when it's in a country where you've got relatives and your in-laws haven't seen their grand-kids in a while, you bring the whole family with you. The next issue is what happens when the kids start asking for their holiday traditions? Well, when it's something fun like Halloween,..... [ read more ]

Okay, there might be weirder vending machines selling knick-knaks and what not. But I spotted this little one tucked in a corner at The Bird's Nest Stadium in Beijing. It sells nicotine patches, exclusively. Something I imagine was a necessity (and continues to be) during the 2008 Olympics as smoking was strictly prohibited within the Olympic..... [ read more ]

I couldn't think of an appropriate image for this post. Well, I did, but taking a picture in the Men's room just would've been enough to creep everybody out and probably get me arrested in China leading to an international incident that I probably don't want any part of. So here it is. That filler of universal use...Spam. Let's get down to it. Potty rules in other countries are drastically..... [ read more ]
