Right now, you're wondering: What the heck is she talking about? Simple. I discovered, Beijing-ers like their water (and most other beverages) hot. Especially in winter (which it just about is right now). Unfortunately, almost all of us (along with our American digestive tracts) enjoy a cold drink with food every now and again. Not just beer, but a..... [ read more ]

Along with the loads of Pizza Huts in Beijing, there are equally if not more number of KFC's around the area. They're not as popular as they once were though. A string of me-too chicken joints, changing tastes, way too altered menu and plain ol' over-staturation is probably killing the brand. Once seen as a beacon to all single-children families in..... So we're in full update mode from our trip to China. Our team is still gathering their thoughts on everything that happened while we were there, so updates will keep flowing on a regular basis. Updates in China were hard to do as Internet was freely available, but Tech Bucket Blog wasn't easy to get to as we were blocked. We've still got our Kindle and..... [ read more ]

Traffic in Beijing is bad. Really bad. You can't say it's all on the planning. It's more a function of the sheer mass of population density that's in Beijing. China is embarking on its country-wide Census as I post this. Last estimates of Beijing's population tops 23,000,000+ people with almost 2,000 people per square mile. It's crazy!!! The City..... It's weird. I've been to Salt Lake City's Olympic Park and Atlanta's too. But none of the places still held the vibe of the Olympics like Beijing's Olympic Park. It wasn't just the architecture and design of the place, but so much more. I can't really describe it, but I felt like The Games were just about happen. Walking around The Bird's Nest and The..... Okay, before you frown upon this silly Cali-girl for wanting to sample some American food while traveling abroad, let me say this: I was CURIOUS!!! None of the Editor's would get off my back on this one, but wouldn't ya know it?? They all jumped at the opportunity to stuff their faces with pizza and burgers when we did stop those few times to "try"..... [ read more ]

My first trip to China was indescribable, not to mention free (paid for by Tech Bucket Blog). I can't even put into words the past 2+ weeks. It all sort of blends into one really long day filled with snarling traffic, exciting places, hordes of people, unimaginable culinary delights and other culturally engaging and mind-opening "stuff". Like any..... [ read more ]

The crew has returned from China. Jet lagged, tired (exhausted), yet surprisingly energetic and totally jazzed up. You couldn't expect anything more from our group who worked 2+ weeks straight in a foreign country, going to bed at 2am and hitting the road again at 6am the next morning. On some days we managed to pull a few more hours of sleep. Not..... [ read more ]
