That was a note I got this morning from a fan. We're not ignoring the 3D TV's (with and without glasses) that were shown at CES last week. We're working on a few postings actually that should basically take a full day's update worth of content. There were tons of 3D with the trend this year being 3D TV's without using glasses. If you want glasses, the..... [ read more ]

We're still supremely skeptical about 3D TV's considering the sheer lack of content. 3D blu-ray discs are coming, but slowly trickling out. You'll find a few 3D channels here and there, but not a whole lot. You'd have to go to DirecTV to find the few channels. Although, if you're on cable, certain providers offer 3D programing on-demand, which is interesting. Unfortunately, you still need..... [ read more ]

I'm not impressed by 3D on the home screen. I find it to be too gimmicky to really be viable long term. The simple fact of the matter is, I don't want to watch TV with another pair of glasses on. Besides personal comfort, 3D with glasses adds more costs to my home viewing experience. Each pair can cost anywhere from $20 (for the cheapest of the cheap)..... [ read more ]

Gimmick or not, there were a ton of 3D sets at CES. Unless you were walking around staring at the floor, there's no way you could've missed the 3D invasion at CES this year. And even if you were staring at the floor? There were stickers and ads on the floor pointing you to booths with 3D. So yeah...3D was all over the floor. You might think then that..... [ read more ]

Actually, the line should probably read "Jay Leno-Conan O'Brien...FIGHT!", but that's okay. Breaking news from CNN and other media sources report that Conan O'Brien has rejected NBC's plan to move Jay Leno from 10pm back into the 11:30pm slot. If you haven't been following O'Brien and Jay Leno's man-handling of NBC, let us recap for you. Jay Leno and NBC..... [ read more ]

Haier and Samsung are in a virtual fight at CES until Sunday evening. They're right across from each other. It's actually very interesting to see Haier's sets pointing right at Samsung's 9000 series and vice versa.
Don't get me wrong, the Haier sets are thin and they're light, but they're not thin like the..... [ read more ]

Samsung's 9000 series LED TV's are thin and beautiful. There's really no other way to describe it. Samsung reports thickness at less than 8mm or around 1/3 of an inch. It really can't get much thinner. The LCD panel itself, can't be physically that much thinner than 8mm. Available sometime in 2010 and no prices were available on the show floor. ..... [ read more ]

3D TV is all over the place at CES.  It seems like every major company that makes TV’s is making a 3D TV.  In addition to LG, Tech Bucket Blog also saw 3D systems from Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, Toshiba, nVidia, and more.  Sharp is also working on one that’s still in development.  It seems like it’s more than just a gimmick.  It looks like a trend.
