I don't think "oops" quite covers IBM's gaffe, but down in the land of Oz, during a security conference of all places, IBM inadvertently handed out SB thumb drives loaded with malware. Blogopshere hilarity quickly ensued. Ironic jokes, puns, you name it, spread quicker than, well, the malware did. A jab here and a jab there is nothing to big blue, but..... [ read more ]

We're going to give Intego some serious props. They've got to be the first, if not the only, Mac antivirus package that supports scanning iPhone/iPod Touch for malware and generally nasty stuff. Now, they're upping the ante even more by adding iPad support. Okay, scoff if you want to. We get that iPad OS is not all that different from iPhone/iPod Touch..... [ read more ]

Airborne Karma is what I'm calling it. I wrote a post last week about Airborne and cold remedies. A higher power was paying attention and decided my time had come. Lemme tell ya, it came with a hammer! Anyone near me last week Friday got it over the weekend. A 72 hour..... [ read more ]

So what happened this weekend and Monday? To explain it fully would take a lot more than a single blog post. A few folks on our team got sick and I mean really really sick. Top and bottom...yech! Bubba survived without any issues, but he was called away on another assignment and couldn't manage the updates. The rest of us went to PMA's in Anaheim and..... [ read more ]

I'm no MD. I have no clue if Airborne tablets or generic versions (much much cheaper by the way) are any good. I do know, I've tried it this week in dealing with my cold and they do seem to make me feel a little better every morning. Hmm...probably because colds usually last 7-10 days and after the first few rough days, you'll start to feel a little better anyways. Lots of folks, to the..... [ read more ]

The last couple of weeks has been interesting. Warnings of more security threats on Macs and then a new flaw found on IE that could comprise your files. Granted that's all on the PC side, but the hypochondriac in me got a little shakey when it comes to security on my Mac. Sure, many viruses don't even bother with Mac OS-X. The reasons we're safe, either because of it's perceived..... [ read more ]

I have a Mac. I love my Mac. It's the only computer that I've ever known since System 7 on a Mac Classic to OS-9 on my PowerBook G4 and then into OS-X and now my MacBook Pro. I love it. I've never had any regrets in begging and pleading for a Mac while everyone else in high school got their Windows boxes. Really. I've never had to deal with issues that other people have had. Virus..... [ read more ]

This should be no surprise to anyone, but it looks like Apple's market share growth hasn't escaped your local malevolently minded programer. The folks at Intego released their 2009 Mac Security report last week and it highlights threats and issues, which the report says grew significantly last year. While it's worrisome, it's still important to..... [ read more ]
